Pablo Ruiz Picasso, born on  à Malaga  and died on  à Mougins,

is a Spanish painter, draftsman, sculptor and engraver who spent most of his life in France.

Artist using all media for his work,

he is considered one of the founders of cubism with Georges Braque and a fellow artist of surrealism.

He is one of the most important artists of the xxe century,

as much by its technical and formal contributions as by its political positions.

He produced nearly 50,000 works including 1,885 paintings, 1,228 sculptures, 2,880 ceramics,

7,089 drawings, 342 tapestries, 150 sketchbooks and 30,000 prints (engravings, lithographs, etc.).

Among his most famous works are the proto-cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907)

and Guernica (1937), a dramatic representation of the bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.
