Original poster Air France - Mexico

By Georges Mathieu, 1967

Founder of lyrical abstraction, pioneer of Action Painting,

performances, dripping, gigantism, speed and risk,

early inspirer of street art.

Started a year earlier,

In 1967, Georges Mathieu completed a series of posters for Air France,

which was initiated by Pierre Sautet, Deputy Commercial Director of Air France.

This unique encounter between art and advertising leads to the presentation of the posters

on October 26, 1967 at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.

They were a huge success: there were dozens of exhibitions organized

in France and in the world, and more than one million posters sold.

This poster dedicated to Mexico City is part of the series of 16 posters for the Air France campaign in 1967.
